In the fall of 2014, I visited Selawik, a small Eskimo village in Alaska. The village population was around 1,000. I found one deaf person in the village. She was an eleven year old girl named Trinity. Though she didn’t know many signs, we were able to communicate a little. She was interested in some of my pictures of deaf children from Romania…and I can only imagine how alone she must have felt in her silent world. I believe that is why she was so interested in seeing my pictures of other deaf children. I wanted to give her a Gospel DVD in sign language but I knew she didn’t know signs. Also her mom didn’t want her learning signs. I don’t know why. Anyways, I am praying for Trinity, that God will open a door for her to someday know more about Him.
